Statewide Assessments NJSLA & PARCC

During the 2018-2019 school year, students in grades 3-11 will participate in a computer-based assessment called the New Jersey Student Learning Assessments (NJSLA). This assessment marks a departure by New Jersey from the previous online assessment, the Partnership for Assessment for Readiness of College and Careers (PARCC). The NJSLA assessments will be administered using the same format and testing platform as the PARCC assessments did. One of the New Jersey Department of Education's (NJDOE) goals in administering the NJSLA to students is to slowly transition away from PARCC before entering into the next generation of statewide assessments.  According to the NJDOE this transition is with a reduction in the length of the NJSLA assessments for all grades by approximately 25 percent, while maintaining trend line and retaining actionable data (i.e., ensuring the assessment provides usable information comparing year-to-year proficiency levels and student growth).
