    Dear Parents,

Welcome!  I am so excited to have your child in my third grade class this year.  I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and share some of my beliefs as a teacher.

This is my seventeenth year teaching in Montgomery.  I have taught first grade, second grade, third grade, fifth grade and basic skills.   I hold a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. I have two grown children.

I love teaching and take my job very seriously.  My goal for the class this year is not only to teach my students academics, but also to provide an environment in which every student feels welcomed and valued as a member of the class.  I will seek to foster their self-esteem, as well as challenge them to take risks in their learning by setting high expectations. When students believe in themselves and their capabilities, they can make tremendous strides in their learning.

Finally, I believe the parent-teacher relationship is a partnership.  I would like to work together with you to help your child reach his/her full potential.  Helping your child establish a good homework routine and having a set bedtime to assure a good night’s sleep are two ways that you can help us to get off to a good start.  I will keep you informed via our Sears Scoop email blasts as to all the wonderful things that are happening in our class.  If you have any questions, concerns or thoughts to share throughout the year, please do not hesitate to contact me.  Email is the quickest way to reach me nsears@mtsd.us.   I look forward to meeting you at our Back to School night on Monday, September 24th.

                                                          Sincerely,

    Nancy Sears
