Degrees and Certifications:
A big thank you to our wonderful Room Parents and Volunteers for
throwing a fabulous Winter Party! A great time was had by all! Thank
you again for your generous gifts, it is my pleasure to work with your
children each day! I wish your families a happy and healthy 2019!
In reading and writing, we are moving onto non-fiction. In reading we
will review the features of a non-fiction book and their purposes,
determine importance, what the author is trying to teach us, and read
across texts to compare and contrast information. Finally, the children
will work in non -fiction book clubs and learn to take turns listening and
speaking in a group.
In writing, the children will choose a topic to write about that they can
teach others. Please help your child brainstorm topics they might already
be an expert on: a sport, interest, hobby. They will learn how to extend
chapters and keep their reader interested by using elaboration strategies,
experiment with writing paragraphs, and as always, revise and edit.
In math, we will begin to learn bar models, which are a pictorial
representation of word problems.
In science, we will begin our Changes on Land Unit.
Dates to Remember:
January 21- School closed
As winter weather is upon us, please send in a container of hand wipes
and tissues for use in the classroom after coughing or sneezing as we do
not have a sink in the classroom. Thank you!
Please have your child wear a jacket, hat, and gloves to school; we
are still going outside for recess during the Winter months.
Thank you again for all your support from home,
