Degrees and Certifications:
February is a busy month! We have a lot of exciting things happening in our classroom.
We are continuing in our non-fiction reading and writing units. In reading, the children are excited to begin our non-fiction book clubs. The children will read across many books on the same topic in book clubs. They will compare and contrast information as they discuss and answer questions. They will also learn to deepen their conversational skills. In writing the children are learning to add non-fiction features to their Expert Pieces which will help teach about their topic in an interesting way.
In math, we will wrap up our word problem unit using bar models. The bar models we have studied are; part-part-whole, and comparison. We have learned to use bar models while solving addition, subtraction, and two- part word problems! Next, we are beginning our geometry unit where we will learn the attributes of solid and plane shapes.
In Science, we are continuing our Changes to Land Unit. Thank you for sending in the maps! We had our Map Museum where we noticed how maps are alike, how they are different, and asked ourselves, “Why do we use maps?”. Next, we will examine how water and wind impact land.
