EarlyBird Screener

The EarlyBird Early Literacy Screener assesses critical skills found to be most predictive of later reading success. It provides educators with a proactive and preventive way to identify students at risk for reading difficulties so they can intervene earlier and help them before they start struggling with reading.

Unlike more traditional assessments, the EarlyBird Screener is a child-friendly interactive game. Your child takes a journey through a city on a fun adventure with their new friend, Pip, a friendly toucan, and will meet other animal friends along the way. Each animal friend will introduce a new skill or “subtest.” The screener is broken down into “stations,” each one just a few minutes in length. At each “station” the game adapts to your child’s level of ability in order to quickly and precisely determine their individual strengths and weaknesses.

There are three testing windows for the Early Bird Screener--one in the fall, one in the winter, and one in the spring.
