Montgomery High School has completed and received it Accreditation from the Middle States Association. The process affirms that the school provides the quality of education that the community has the right to expect and the educational world endorses.

    The story...

Two options were available for receiving accreditation:
    1) look back and see what has been done well
    2) look forward and see what can be done even better
The MHS administration choose to look forward to our students' future needs.

To accomplish this unique accreditation process (which occurred from September 2005-May 2008), various teams utilized input from all stakeholders (faculty, parents and students) to develop a plan for school improvement and student performance growth.  Through faculty, parent and student surveys, community forums, and a multitude of committee meetings the process identified eight focus areas for improvement within the MHS environment. Those focus areas are: Academic Integrity, Assessment for Learning, Co-Curricular Involvement, Community Service, Conduct, Nutrition and Fitness, Stress, GPA/Course Failure Ratio.

To receive accreditation the Montgomery High School administration created teams for each focus area. The teams consisted of faculty (all faculty are engaged in teams), administration, student volunteers, and parent volunteers. The goal of each team was to create an action plan to accomplish the goal set for each focus area. For example the Community Service Team created an action plan with varied ways of opening up more community service opportunities for MHS students.

The Middle States Association then reviewed the action plans and the comprehensive process Montgomery High School utilized and they gave their resounding approval. Click here to read the Accreditation Statement.

But the project is far from done...

Now that MHS has received its accreditation from the Middle States Association the real work begins. Each Focus Area Team has now become an Implementation Team and they are working to put the Action Plans in motion. Montgomery High School is continually working in new and creative ways to meet its mission: to be an academically challenging and supportive community that provides innovative educational, extra-curricular, and social opportunities that encourage responsible citizenship and life-long learning.
