NJSLA/NJGPA Field Tests: FAQs

This fall, the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) has mandated school districts to administer the New Jersey Student Learning Assessments-Adaptive (NJSLA-Adaptive) field test and New Jersey Graduation Proficiency Assessment-Adaptive (NJGPA-Adaptive) field test.

The NJDOE has indicated that the purpose of these field tests is to give students and educators an opportunity to become familiar with the assessments and their administration. The NJDOE has informed school districts that results from these field tests will not be provided to students, educators, parents, or schools. Per the NJDOE, the data collected from the field tests will help the state and test developers ensure that test items are valid, reliable, and fair for all students before testing begins in spring 2026.
