The Montgomery High School Marching BandThe Montgomery High School Marching Band was founded in August of 2003 by 55 incredibly dedicated students. Many of these students did not even know what a marching band was, but still made the huge time commitment involved in making a marching band successful. Through their work-ethic and fantastic attitude, they set the foundation for the model of excellence the band lives by.The Montgomery High School Marching Band is one of the largest co-curricular activities at Montgomery High School. It rehearses Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays after school until 5:00 p.m. The instrumental component of the marching band is open to all students registered for a curricular music ensemble. The color-guard component of the marching band is open to all students at Montgomery High School.Since its founding, the band has received excellent and superior ratings at local and regional festivals and has been recognized by the United States Marines for its high level of military bearing and professionalism. The band has been awarded best music awards and the USSBA Spirit Award. In the 2007, 2008, and 2009 seasons, the band received superior ratings at all of the festivals it attended as well as the following awards at some of the festivals: best music, best marching, best color guard, and best overall effect. Since that time, the marching band has continued it's tradition of excellence which has resulted in performances at two Philadelphia Phillies games, several performances at New Jersey Devils games, and the drumline being selected as the official drumline for the NJ Devils through their most recent playoff run and into the Stanley Cup Finals. The band has traveled abroad to Spain, Germany, and the Czech Republic performing concerts and parades with youth and community bands from those regions. In the 2014-2015, the band was selected to perform on the Rachel Ray show in the first episode of her new season. At festival competitions, the band received superior ratings, best music and marching awards, as well as numerous caption awards. Included among these awards was best drum major for Kevin Shen who was awarded that honor at three different festivals. The band finished the year by almost sweeping the awards and earning a superior rating at the Pennsbury Marching Band Festival.Important Forms and InformationFor all band bulletins and announcements, as well as music files and drill, please click on thefollowing link below to be transferred to the marching band members page. This link will open an order form for you to use when ordering the necessary materials for participation in marching band for the 2016 season. This link will open a letter detailing information about the MTSD activity fee for students who participate in an after school ensemble. This link will open the 2016-2017 marching band medical form.
