Reminder - 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony - Monday, June 22nd

Students are to report to the Montgomery High School Auxiliary gym at 5:15 p.m. on June 22nd for staging and pre-ceremony announcements. The promotion ceremony will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m. in the main gymnasium and is expected to end at 7:30 p.m.  Again, students are asked to “dress to impress” while being mindful of our school dress code. Jeans or shorts are not permitted.            

Each student is allotted four (4) guest/family seats. Guests will be checked in at the door. There are no paper tickets for this event, but monitored through my office.  Please contact Ms. Holly Kotler at hkotler@mtsd.us if you need extra and/or handicapped seating.  Thank you to PTO for helping us to host such a special night for our 8th graders!

We want to remind families that students will be rehearsing for promotion on the morning of June 22nd. Therefore, attendance is mandatory on this day. If your child is absent, we will conclude that they will not participate in the evening’s celebration. If there are extenuating circumstances, please let us know so we can do our best to accommodate.  

We are happy to help any student who needs attire for the celebrations or assistance in covering the cost of these events. Please contact Ms. Amanda Huelbig or Mr. Mark Accardi if you need help.

Reminder - Class of 2026 High School Graduation Information

On Tuesday, June 23rd, the Commencement Ceremony for the Class of 2026 will begin promptly at 6:00 P.M. The ceremony will take place indoors in the Main Gymnasium. Graduates will assemble in the Auxiliary Gymnasium at 5:15 P.M.

This year, we have made a single, consistent decision to hold graduation indoors in order to provide the safest and most comfortable experience for our graduates, families, and staff. Our students deserve to fully enjoy this milestone without the challenges that can come with late June weather. High temperatures and humidity are common, and on the turf and metal bleachers, these conditions are significantly intensified, particularly for graduates seated in gowns for extended periods. In addition, changing weather patterns can make outdoor planning unpredictable and often lead to last-minute adjustments.

By planning ahead and committing to an indoor ceremony, we are prioritizing the well-being of our community while also enabling families to plan with clarity and confidence. Our focus remains on creating a meaningful, joyful, and memorable celebration for the Class of 2026.

Participation in the graduation ceremony is optional. As such, any student may choose not to participate in the commencement exercise. If you decide not to participate, please contact Mrs. Matthews in the main office as soon as possible at lmatthews@mtsd.us 

Schedule of Events Tuesday, June 23rd, 2026

7:30 A.M. – Senior Breakfast will occur outside, under the Science Eave, before graduation practice. Parents of seniors conduct this activity, which is funded by the senior class. 

8:00 A.M. – The Class of 2026 will check in under the Science Eave and be directed to the Main Gymnasium for graduation rehearsal.

8:25 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. –  Graduation Rehearsal.

• Dismissal depends on the class's cooperation and the successful completion of rehearsals for the Commencement Ceremony.
• Students must attend the entire rehearsal session to participate in the Commencement Ceremony. Students who miss rehearsal or leave prior to the conclusion of rehearsal will not be eligible to participate. Please do not schedule appointments before 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 23rd.

5:15 P.M. – Members of the Class of 2026 participating in the Commencement Ceremony report to the Auxiliary Gymnasium. Students should be in the gymnasium no later than 5:15 P.M.

6:00 P.M. – Commencement Ceremony

Dress Code

All students must be dressed in appropriate attire for graduation. Appropriate attire includes:

• Dresses, skirts, or dress pants with a blouse under the gown.
• Dress pants, dress shoes, and a dress shirt with a tie.
• Jeans and shorts are NOT permitted.
• Flip-flops are NOT permitted.
• Please be mindful of your footwear. Walking in heels on a polished floor may be difficult and uncomfortable. 
• Footwear should be more formal than on a typical school day.

If you have a question about your graduation attire, please speak with Mrs. Pino-Beattie in advance of the graduation ceremony.

Code of Conduct

• Members of the Class of 2026 must be in their assigned seats on time for all graduation rehearsals.  Failure to attend or unexcused lateness to the rehearsal sessions may jeopardize a student’s privilege to participate in the Commencement Ceremony.
• All members of the Class of 2026 are asked to cooperate fully during rehearsals. The sooner you get it correct, the sooner you will be dismissed.
• Please do not bring beach balls, silly string, air horns, water guns, or any other “items of distraction” to rehearsal or the Commencement Ceremony. The Marshals will check students prior to the ceremony to ensure that these items are not present.
• Cell phones must remain in the “OFF” position during graduation rehearsal and the Commencement Ceremony.
• Cameras and yearbooks are prohibited during the graduation rehearsal or the Commencement Ceremony.

Note: Students in violation of the Code of Conduct or who do not comply with the Dress Code as stated above may jeopardize their privilege to participate in the Commencement Ceremony and may be removed from the ceremony.  Remember, participating in graduation is a privilege, not a right.

Diplomas

• Please ensure all fines and obligations are paid by Thursday, June 11, at 10:00 a.m. so students can receive their diplomas. Unpaid fines and obligations will delay the receipt of your diploma.
• You must complete the Naviance Graduation Survey. You can access this by logging into your Naviance account, clicking on “about me,” and then selecting the “graduation survey.”
• Diplomas will be distributed in the media center immediately following the commencement ceremony. Graduates must report for diploma pick-up immediately following the ceremony.

Distribution of Caps and Gowns

Caps and gowns will be distributed on Monday, June 22nd. Graduates can pick up their caps and gowns from 10:40 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at the reception desk in the foyer (outside the main office).

Distribution of Graduation Tickets

Tickets will be distributed on Tuesday, June 23rd, at the end of graduation rehearsal. Each graduate will receive four tickets for our commencement ceremony. We will have overflow seating in the Montgomery Performing Arts Center (MPAC) available on a first-come, first-served basis; we will live-stream the Ceremony for free on YouTube for those unable to attend in person. We will provide a link to the live stream in the days leading up to graduation.

Pictures

• Montgomery graduates and parents will be able to purchase professional graduation pictures through Milan Rose.  Graduation pictures will feature each student receiving their diploma and will be available for purchase.     
• Order envelopes will be sent electronically, a hard copy will be available in the main office, and a downloadable form will be available on the MHS website. Payment must be received prior to the Commencement Ceremony.
• Completed order forms with payment should be submitted to the main office prior to the Commencement Ceremony.

Commencement Ceremony Estimated Run-Time

The graduation ceremony normally runs approximately 2 hours.

Seniors - Google Account Information

Congratulations on ALMOST completing your high school career at Montgomery High School! As you move into the next phase of your journey, you may want to retain the information currently stored in your MTSD Google account.  The district will leave your Google account open until July 1st so you can transfer any files you wish to retain.  There are two methods of transferring information from your MTSD Google Accounts:

1. You may move the files out via a simple download
2. You may transfer your files via the Google Takeout software

Starting June 15th, Google Takeout will be enabled, allowing you to download or transfer files. Google Takeout will NOT be available UNTIL June 15th. Google Takeout is available at https://takeout.google.com, and instructions for using it are in this video.

Unfortunately, no district technical support is available for this process.

MHS Lost and Found Cleanout

We will soon conduct a thorough clean-up of our lost and found collection. Over the past weeks, various items have accumulated, including clothing, backpacks, lunch bags, and water bottles.

Before we proceed with the donation and placing items in the garbage, we kindly request your assistance in reminding your children to check the lost and found area for any belongings they may have misplaced. We understand how easy it can be for items to get misplaced in the hustle and bustle of school life, and we want to ensure that every effort is made to reunite students with their belongings.

Therefore, please take a moment to remind your children to visit the lost and found area in the cafeteria near the lunch line closest to the Nurse's Office before June 24th. This will allow them the opportunity to reclaim any lost items before they are donated to charity.

We greatly appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

Graduation Cap Decoration Guidelines

Two years ago, we kicked off a new tradition, and we’re excited to see the Class of 2026 carry it forward!

Decorating your graduation cap (mortarboard) is a meaningful way to celebrate your accomplishments, identity, and future plans. Your cap can reflect your journey, your pride, or your personality, whether through a quote, symbol, image, flag, or message that matters to you.

Please follow the guidelines below to ensure our graduation ceremony remains a respectful and celebratory event for all. All decorated caps must be approved in advance. Caps that do not meet expectations will be held until after the ceremony, and an undecorated replacement will be provided.

Decoration Guidelines

All decorations must:

• Lie completely flat on the cap
• Not interfere with attaching the tassel
• Stay within the edges of the cap (no overhangs)
• Be silent—no noise-making elements
• Avoid any 3D items, such as signs, stuffed animals, bells, or flowers
• Remain below eye level—nothing should stand upright or stick out

Need Inspiration? Here Are Some Ideas:

• Thank a parent, grandparent, teacher, friend… or your principal
• Show off your post-high school plans (college, career, military, trade school, gap year)
• Highlight your MHS experience (sports, clubs, or other activities)
• Display your graduation year or an inspirational message
• Or… leave it blank! Decorating is optional.

Please Avoid:

• Decorations that violate the Montgomery High School Code of Conduct
• Obscene, vulgar, or profane language
• References to drugs, alcohol, tobacco, weapons, or sexual content
• Hurtful or slanderous messages about any person or group
• Political statements or affiliations
• Hate speech or threatening language
• Names of others or nicknames (unless approved)

Pro Tip:

Trace your cap onto cardboard and decorate the cardboard first. If you make a mistake, you won’t risk damaging your actual cap. Once you’re happy with your design, attach it to your real cap using double-sided tape or Velcro.

Important Details:

• You’ll receive your cap and gown on June 22nd, the day before graduation.
• Start your design in advance—don’t wait until the last minute.
• Cap dimensions: 9.5” x 9.5” with a small center hole (½” diameter) for the tassel.
• YOU MUST bring your decorated cap to graduation practice for review and approval.

Medication Pick-up Notice

If your child has medication in the school health office, they must be picked up prior to the school year ending on Tuesday, June 23, 2026. Please be aware that it can only be given to you by the school nurse. Medication that is not picked up will be discarded at the end of the day on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.

For the coming 2026-2027 school year, information pertaining to medication forms and care plans for students with a life-threatening allergy, asthma, diabetes, or a seizure disorder will be sent out over the summer. Links will be provided to the forms needing completion and they can also be found on the district website under the “Health Offices” tab.

It is recommended that your child self-carry district-approved medications such as inhalers, Epinephrine, diabetic supplies/medication, and Hydrocortisone Succinate. Care plans and medication forms are still required in these instances and must state that the child is capable of self-carrying.

All medication forms and care plans must be updated annually. It is imperative that you have the forms and medications ready for the first day of school, September 3, 2026.

Please visit the health office website for medication drop off dates pertaining to your child's school for the upcoming school year. All medications must be in their original container with your child's name and date of birth. Please contact your child’s Certified School Nurse for the 2026-2027 school year with questions or concerns.

Community Farm Share Program

The Montgomery Township School District has partnered with Fairgrown Farm! Fairgrown Farm will be bringing fresh, local food directly to families and funding meaningful school programs.

You can pick up your farm box every Tuesday from 2 PM - 5 PM at Montgomery High School. Each box includes a rotating selection of seasonal produce from 40+ local farms with the ability to add additional year-round and seasonal items. 10% of every purchase goes right back to our school district to support field trips, in-school farm experiences, tastings, and local food in school lunches.

Free and Reduced-Price Lunch Program

As we continue working to support every student in our school community, we want to be sure all families are aware of the Free and Reduced-Price Lunch Program available to eligible students.

This program helps ensure that every child has access to healthy, nutritious meals during the school day. Many families qualify and don't realize. All applications are kept completely confidential. Submission of this form should be done annually.

A Message From Assistant Principal Caudill

I am writing to share some personal news. Effective July 1, I will be leaving my position as Assistant Principal at Orchard Hill Elementary School as I begin a new chapter serving as Principal of Littlebrook Elementary School in Princeton, New Jersey.

While I am excited about this opportunity for growth, making the decision to leave Orchard Hill has not been easy. Over the years, it has been a privilege to work alongside such an incredible community of students, families, and staff. Orchard Hill has been much more than a workplace; it has been a place filled with meaningful relationships, shared experiences, and countless moments that I will always carry with me.

To our families, thank you for your trust, support, and partnership. The connection between home and school is essential to student success, and I have truly appreciated the opportunity to work together in support of our children. Your collaboration, encouragement, and commitment to our school community have made a lasting impact.

To our Cubs, thank you for making each day meaningful and memorable. Your curiosity, kindness, energy, and joy have made Orchard Hill a special place. Whether sharing a smile in the hallway, celebrating accomplishments, working through challenges together, or watching you grow throughout the years, it has been an honor to be a small part of your journey. I am incredibly proud of each of you and all that you will continue to accomplish.

Although I may be moving into a new role, I will always carry a piece of Orchard Hill with me. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have been part of this remarkable school community.

Thank you again for allowing me to serve and grow alongside you. I look forward to cherishing these final weeks together and celebrating all that makes Orchard Hill such a special place.

CALLING ALL VES 4TH GRADERS!

4th graders are invited to celebrate the completion of their time @ VES and get a sneak peek of life @ LMS at the PTA's annual Moving Up Party! This year's event will be a Glow Party... wear your brightest, neon-est and prepare to shine!

There will be a photo booth, crafts, gym games, light snacks, and a day-glo dance party!

THIS IS NOT A DROP OFF EVENT! Adult chaperones must attend but may bring a group of up to five (5) current VES 4th graders (no siblings, please).

7th Grade Student IDs

Principal Accardi sent an email to all 7th grade families regarding student IDs:

Dear 7th Grade Families,

As we look ahead to the next school year, I am reaching out to share our plan to strengthen school safety and ensure every student is prepared. It is a firm expectation that all students have and wear their school IDs starting on the very first day of school.

To ensure a smooth transition, we have a clear plan for our current 7th graders. Throughout next week, our staff will verify that every 7th grader has a functional school ID. I will be emailing families directly if our records indicate that your child needs to purchase a replacement ID before the summer break.

On June 22, we will collect every 7th grader's ID. UMS will hold onto these for the summer and return them to the students on the first day of school. This process ensures that everyone begins the new year ready to meet our safety requirements from day one. If your student will not be here at the end of the school year, please have them turn in their ID to my administrative assistant, Holly Kotler, prior to their departure.

Moving forward, it is vital that we increase our collective follow-through on ID expectations. IDs are an essential layer of security for bus scanning and building safety. If your child currently needs a replacement, please use the information below:

8th Grade End of Year Events

The time has come to recognize our wonderful 8th graders as they prepare to finish middle school and enter high school. We are proud of their accomplishments and look forward to celebrating with them. Please note the events dedicated to them and the relevant information below to ensure everyone joins in the celebration. Students must demonstrate that they can follow school rules, and they must also attend school on the days of the events to participate.

Grade 8 Trip to Frogbridge: Tuesday, June 16th @ 8:30 am – 2:30 pm

We are very excited to see a HUGE turnout of 8th graders joining us for this tradition! Frogbridge offers many activities for the students, including tennis, beach volleyball, basketball, driving range,  kayaking, bumper boats,  fishing (must bring their own fishing equipment), and four heated pools. Students should pack a bathing suit (appropriate and securely fastened), a towel, sunscreen, and sneakers. All students will have access to a lunch and a snack bar - all included in the cost of the trip. Thank you to the PTO for their generous donation of $2,000 to offset the trip's cost. For students who are not attending the trip, we will have school-based activities running, as this is a day that counts for attendance. 

Grade 8 Chromebook Collection: Science classes on June 17th and June 18th 

Students will be turning in their MTSD devices during their Science classes on June 17th and June 18th. More information about this process will be shared by our Technology department. 

Grade 8 Promotion Ceremony: Monday, June 22nd @ 6:00 pm @ MHS

Students are to report to the Montgomery High School Auxiliary gym at 5:15 p.m. on June 22nd for staging and pre-ceremony announcements. The promotion ceremony will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m. in the main gymnasium and is expected to end at 7:30 p.m.  Again, students are asked to “dress to impress” while being mindful of our school dress code. Jeans or shorts are not permitted.            

Each student is allotted four (4) guest/family seats. Guests will be checked in at the door. There are no paper tickets for this event, but monitored through my office.  Please contact Ms. Holly Kotler at hkotler@mtsd.us if you need extra and/or handicapped seating.  Thank you to PTO for helping us to host such a special night for our 8th graders!

We want to remind families that students will be rehearsing for promotion on the morning of June 22nd. Therefore, attendance is mandatory on this day. If your child is absent, we will conclude that they will not participate in the evening’s celebration. If there are extenuating circumstances, please let us know so we can do our best to accommodate.  

We are happy to help any student who needs attire for the celebrations or assistance in covering the cost of these events. Please contact Ms. Amanda Huelbig or Mr. Mark Accardi if you need help.

8th Grade Chromebook Returns

As we prepare for the end of the school year, 8th graders will be returning their district-issued Chromebook and charger. A reminder that Montgomery High School is a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) environment. Students are expected to bring their own laptop/tablet to school every day. Families exhibiting financial need should reach out to their high school counselor during the beginning of the 26-27 school year. 

8th Graders will be handing their Chromebooks and chargers in on Wednesday, June 17th, and Thursday, June 18th, during Science classes. The district Technology Department will be spot assessing for damages and billing for needed repairs.  Students will be sent home with documentation of the damages and fees will be assessed via Genesis. Payment can be made through PaySchools, check, or cash sent to the school. Checks should be made out to the Montgomery Township Board of Education.  Please submit online payment or send a check for the assessed damages to the main office by the last week of school. We recommend examining your student’s device to determine whether or not to expect repair damage billing.  

Typical damage charges are as follows:

Heavily scratched or damaged screen - $40

Cracked or gouged top or bottom cover - $30 each

Keyboard or trackpad - $75

Bezel/Screen trim - $20

Missing or broken hinge/trim cover - $10

Missing or lost charger - $25

Missing, lost, or total loss device  - $250

A previously purchased 2025-2026 insurance plan with an available claim will cover end-of-year damages. 

Any student who does not return their Chromebook or pay for damages will be prohibited from participating in end-of-the-year activities.

2026 Camp Mason Preview

Rising 8th Grade Families -- It is time for us to begin to talk about the long-standing tradition of Camp Mason! For over 30 years, UMS students have been attending Camp Mason for an overnight camping experience to kick off their 8th grade year with some amazing memories. 

We will have a parent informational night on our Back-to-School Night in September 2026, but we wanted to share some important information now so families can begin to prepare for the trip. Below are some important links to key information. We will be sending more information throughout the summer and in the fall.

Seniors - Google Account Information

Congratulations on ALMOST completing your high school career at Montgomery High School! As you move into the next phase of your journey, you may want to retain the information currently stored in your MTSD Google account.  The district will leave your Google account open until July 1st so you can transfer any files you wish to retain.  There are two methods of transferring information from your MTSD Google Accounts:

1. You may move the files out via a simple download
2. You may transfer your files via the Google Takeout software

Starting June 15th, Google Takeout will be enabled, allowing you to download or transfer files. Google Takeout will NOT be available UNTIL June 15th. Google Takeout is available at https://takeout.google.com, and instructions for using it are in this video.

Unfortunately, no district technical support is available for this process.

MHS Lost and Found Cleanout

We will soon conduct a thorough clean-up of our lost and found collection. Over the past weeks, various items have accumulated, including clothing, backpacks, lunch bags, and water bottles.

Before we proceed with the donation and placing items in the garbage, we kindly request your assistance in reminding your children to check the lost and found area for any belongings they may have misplaced. We understand how easy it can be for items to get misplaced in the hustle and bustle of school life, and we want to ensure that every effort is made to reunite students with their belongings.

Therefore, please take a moment to remind your children to visit the lost and found area in the cafeteria near the lunch line closest to the Nurse's Office before June 24th. This will allow them the opportunity to reclaim any lost items before they are donated to charity.

We greatly appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

Graduation Cap Decoration Guidelines

Two years ago, we kicked off a new tradition, and we’re excited to see the Class of 2026 carry it forward!

Decorating your graduation cap (mortarboard) is a meaningful way to celebrate your accomplishments, identity, and future plans. Your cap can reflect your journey, your pride, or your personality, whether through a quote, symbol, image, flag, or message that matters to you.

Please follow the guidelines below to ensure our graduation ceremony remains a respectful and celebratory event for all. All decorated caps must be approved in advance. Caps that do not meet expectations will be held until after the ceremony, and an undecorated replacement will be provided.

Decoration Guidelines

All decorations must:

• Lie completely flat on the cap
• Not interfere with attaching the tassel
• Stay within the edges of the cap (no overhangs)
• Be silent—no noise-making elements
• Avoid any 3D items, such as signs, stuffed animals, bells, or flowers
• Remain below eye level—nothing should stand upright or stick out

• Names of others or nicknames (unless approved)

Pro Tip:

Trace your cap onto cardboard and decorate the cardboard first. If you make a mistake, you won’t risk damaging your actual cap. Once you’re happy with your design, attach it to your real cap using double-sided tape or Velcro.

Important Details:

• You’ll receive your cap and gown on June 22nd, the day before graduation.
• Start your design in advance—don’t wait until the last minute.
• Cap dimensions: 9.5” x 9.5” with a small center hole (½” diameter) for the tassel.
• YOU MUST bring your decorated cap to graduation practice for review and approval.

• Individual appointments with teachers during exam periods.
• Afterschool and summer make-ups must be arranged through the teacher (or supervisor, if the teacher is unavailable) by Thursday, June 18th.

Parking On Campus Reminder

As a reminder, on-campus parking is strictly reserved for seniors who have completed parking applications and select juniors who won the junior parking lottery and completed parking applications.

Please be aware of the following regulations:

• Parking Tags: Students are not permitted to park on campus without a valid parking tag. Your tag must be clearly displayed on your rearview mirror at all times while parked on campus.

• Vehicle Identification: We are actively recording license plate numbers, as well as vehicle makes, models, and colors. This information is being cross-referenced and will be taken into consideration for students applying for senior parking next year.

Failure to follow these rules may result in the loss of future parking privileges. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our campus safe and organized.

Class of 2026 High School Graduation Information

On Tuesday, June 23rd, the Commencement Ceremony for the Class of 2026 will begin promptly at 6:00 P.M. The ceremony will take place indoors in the Main Gymnasium. Graduates will assemble in the Auxiliary Gymnasium at 5:15 P.M.

This year, we have made a single, consistent decision to hold graduation indoors in order to provide the safest and most comfortable experience for our graduates, families, and staff. Our students deserve to fully enjoy this milestone without the challenges that can come with late June weather. High temperatures and humidity are common, and on the turf and metal bleachers, these conditions are significantly intensified, particularly for graduates seated in gowns for extended periods. In addition, changing weather patterns can make outdoor planning unpredictable and often lead to last-minute adjustments.

By planning ahead and committing to an indoor ceremony, we are prioritizing the well-being of our community while also enabling families to plan with clarity and confidence. Our focus remains on creating a meaningful, joyful, and memorable celebration for the Class of 2026.

Participation in the graduation ceremony is optional. As such, any student may choose not to participate in the commencement exercise. If you decide not to participate, please contact Mrs. Matthews in the main office as soon as possible at lmatthews@mtsd.us 

Schedule of Events Tuesday, June 23rd, 2026

7:30 A.M. – Senior Breakfast will occur outside, under the Science Eave, before graduation practice. Parents of seniors conduct this activity, which is funded by the senior class. 

8:00 A.M. – The Class of 2026 will check in under the Science Eave and be directed to the Main Gymnasium for graduation rehearsal.

8:25 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. –  Graduation Rehearsal.

• Dismissal depends on the class's cooperation and the successful completion of rehearsals for the Commencement Ceremony.
• Students must attend the entire rehearsal session to participate in the Commencement Ceremony. Students who miss rehearsal or leave prior to the conclusion of rehearsal will not be eligible to participate. Please do not schedule appointments before 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 23rd.

5:15 P.M. – Members of the Class of 2026 participating in the Commencement Ceremony report to the Auxiliary Gymnasium. Students should be in the gymnasium no later than 5:15 P.M.

6:00 P.M. – Commencement Ceremony

Dress Code

All students must be dressed in appropriate attire for graduation. Appropriate attire includes:

• Dresses, skirts, or dress pants with a blouse under the gown.
• Dress pants, dress shoes, and a dress shirt with a tie.
• Jeans and shorts are NOT permitted.
• Flip-flops are NOT permitted.
• Please be mindful of your footwear. Walking in heels on a polished floor may be difficult and uncomfortable. 
• Footwear should be more formal than on a typical school day.

If you have a question about your graduation attire, please speak with Mrs. Pino-Beattie in advance of the graduation ceremony.

Code of Conduct

• Members of the Class of 2026 must be in their assigned seats on time for all graduation rehearsals.  Failure to attend or unexcused lateness to the rehearsal sessions may jeopardize a student’s privilege to participate in the Commencement Ceremony.
• All members of the Class of 2026 are asked to cooperate fully during rehearsals. The sooner you get it correct, the sooner you will be dismissed.
• Please do not bring beach balls, silly string, air horns, water guns, or any other “items of distraction” to rehearsal or the Commencement Ceremony. The Marshals will check students prior to the ceremony to ensure that these items are not present.
• Cell phones must remain in the “OFF” position during graduation rehearsal and the Commencement Ceremony.
• Cameras and yearbooks are prohibited during the graduation rehearsal or the Commencement Ceremony.

Note: Students in violation of the Code of Conduct or who do not comply with the Dress Code as stated above may jeopardize their privilege to participate in the Commencement Ceremony and may be removed from the ceremony.  Remember, participating in graduation is a privilege, not a right.

Diplomas

• Please ensure all fines and obligations are paid by Thursday, June 11, at 10:00 a.m. so students can receive their diplomas. Unpaid fines and obligations will delay the receipt of your diploma.
• You must complete the Naviance Graduation Survey. You can access this by logging into your Naviance account, clicking on “about me,” and then selecting the “graduation survey.”
• Diplomas will be distributed in the media center immediately following the commencement ceremony. Graduates must report for diploma pick-up immediately following the ceremony.

Distribution of Caps and Gowns

Caps and gowns will be distributed on Monday, June 22nd. Graduates can pick up their caps and gowns from 10:40 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at the reception desk in the foyer (outside the main office).

Distribution of Graduation Tickets

Tickets will be distributed on Tuesday, June 23rd, at the end of graduation rehearsal. Each graduate will receive four tickets for our commencement ceremony. We will have overflow seating in the Montgomery Performing Arts Center (MPAC) available on a first-come, first-served basis; we will live-stream the Ceremony for free on YouTube for those unable to attend in person. We will provide a link to the live stream in the days leading up to graduation.

Graduation Announcements in the July Issue of The Montgomery News

The Montgomery News is continuing the tradition and helping the community celebrate our 2026 graduates!  In their July issue, a special graduation section will highlight the accomplishments of local students from preschool to graduate school.  The Montgomery News will also donate 10% of the proceeds from the graduation announcements to the Montgomery Township Education Foundation (MTEF). The deadline to purchase graduation announcements is Monday, June 15, 2026. More information can be found on the linked Montgomery News Graduation Announcement site.

Pictures

• Montgomery graduates and parents will be able to purchase professional graduation pictures through Milan Rose.  Graduation pictures will feature each student receiving their diploma and will be available for purchase.     
• Order envelopes will be sent electronically, a hard copy will be available in the main office, and a downloadable form will be available on the MHS website. Payment must be received prior to the Commencement Ceremony.
• Completed order forms with payment should be submitted to the main office prior to the Commencement Ceremony.

Commencement Ceremony Estimated Run-Time

The graduation ceremony normally runs approximately 2 hours.

Families who need Special Seating and/or Handicapped Parking are asked to contact Mrs. Lori Matthews at lmatthews@mtsd.us. Please contact Mrs. Matthews by Wednesday, June 3rd, with your request. Somerset County Park Commission: Camp Curiosity - Monday, June 22 - Friday, June 26, 2026

SPACE IS THE PLACE!
At Camp Curiosity, participants will explore the wonders of science and outer space. Have you ever wondered what it’s like in outer space? Are there aliens out there? At “mission control,” campers will learn what it takes to be an astronaut while engaging in fun and interactive activities.

Camp Curiosity is a weeklong program for individuals ages 10–16 with developmental disabilities, learning disabilities, high-functioning autism, or mild intellectual disabilities. The program includes arts and crafts, individual and group games, nature activities, creative arts, and more.

Our goal is to provide participants with opportunities to develop recreation and leisure skills, build positive peer relationships, strengthen social skills, enhance confidence and self-image, and most importantly—have fun!

Camp Dates: Monday – Friday, June 22–26, 2026

Artwork from staff members will also be displayed!

The visual arts give our students an opportunity to creatively communicate their passions and expressively share how they see the world and themselves in it. The beauty and talent displayed rivals what you would find in any art museum.

The art gallery is located at Montgomery High School, 1016 Route 601, Skillman NJ 08558.  We will have the gallery open to the public on 2 different days as follows:

Legal Notice: June 16 BOE Meeting Time Change

Please note that the start time for the June 16, 2026 Board of Education Meeting has been moved from 6 PM to 5 PM. The meeting will still take place in the OHES Cafeteria.

Medication Pick-up Notice

If your child has medication in the school health office, they must be picked up prior to the school year ending on Tuesday, June 23, 2026. Please be aware that it can only be given to you by the school nurse. Medication that is not picked up will be discarded at the end of the day on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.

For the coming 2026-2027 school year, information pertaining to medication forms and care plans for students with a life-threatening allergy, asthma, diabetes, or a seizure disorder will be sent out over the summer. Links will be provided to the forms needing completion and they can also be found on the district website under the “Health Offices” tab.

It is recommended that your child self-carry district-approved medications such as inhalers, Epinephrine, diabetic supplies/medication, and Hydrocortisone Succinate. Care plans and medication forms are still required in these instances and must state that the child is capable of self-carrying.

All medication forms and care plans must be updated annually. It is imperative that you have the forms and medications ready for the first day of school, September 3, 2026.

Please visit the health office website for medication drop off dates pertaining to your child's school for the upcoming school year. All medications must be in their original container with your child's name and date of birth. Please contact your child’s Certified School Nurse for the 2026-2027 school year with questions or concerns.

Community Farm Share Program

The Montgomery Township School District has partnered with Fairgrown Farm! Fairgrown Farm will be bringing fresh, local food directly to families and funding meaningful school programs.

You can pick up your farm box every Tuesday from 2 PM - 5 PM at Montgomery High School. Each box includes a rotating selection of seasonal produce from 40+ local farms with the ability to add additional year-round and seasonal items. 10% of every purchase goes right back to our school district to support field trips, in-school farm experiences, tastings, and local food in school lunches.

New Jersey has expanded the income eligibility guidelines for families with children in grades K–12. Please review the updated guidelines to see if your family qualifies for the school meal program:

Free and Reduced-Price Lunch Program

As we continue working to support every student in our school community, we want to be sure all families are aware of the Free and Reduced-Price Lunch Program available to eligible students.

This program helps ensure that every child has access to healthy, nutritious meals during the school day. Many families qualify and don't realize. All applications are kept completely confidential. Submission of this form should be done annually.

A Message From Assistant Principal Caudill

I am writing to share some personal news. Effective July 1, I will be leaving my position as Assistant Principal at Orchard Hill Elementary School as I begin a new chapter serving as Principal of Littlebrook Elementary School in Princeton, New Jersey.

While I am excited about this opportunity for growth, making the decision to leave Orchard Hill has not been easy. Over the years, it has been a privilege to work alongside such an incredible community of students, families, and staff. Orchard Hill has been much more than a workplace; it has been a place filled with meaningful relationships, shared experiences, and countless moments that I will always carry with me.

To our families, thank you for your trust, support, and partnership. The connection between home and school is essential to student success, and I have truly appreciated the opportunity to work together in support of our children. Your collaboration, encouragement, and commitment to our school community have made a lasting impact.

To our Cubs, thank you for making each day meaningful and memorable. Your curiosity, kindness, energy, and joy have made Orchard Hill a special place. Whether sharing a smile in the hallway, celebrating accomplishments, working through challenges together, or watching you grow throughout the years, it has been an honor to be a small part of your journey. I am incredibly proud of each of you and all that you will continue to accomplish.

Although I may be moving into a new role, I will always carry a piece of Orchard Hill with me. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have been part of this remarkable school community.

Thank you again for allowing me to serve and grow alongside you. I look forward to cherishing these final weeks together and celebrating all that makes Orchard Hill such a special place.

MES PTA's 2026 4th Grade Moving Up Party - Thursday, June 18, 2026

CALLING ALL VES 4TH GRADERS!

4th graders are invited to celebrate the completion of their time @ VES and get a sneak peek of life @ LMS at the PTA's annual Moving Up Party! This year's event will be a Glow Party... wear your brightest, neon-est and prepare to shine!

There will be a photo booth, crafts, gym games, light snacks, and a day-glo dance party!

THIS IS NOT A DROP OFF EVENT! Adult chaperones must attend but may bring a group of up to five (5) current VES 4th graders (no siblings, please).

Additional Details: Crossroads Museum

As we continue to look ahead to our June 12th celebration, Crossroads: Journeying Through Montgomery’s History, we are excited to share more details about this unforgettable learning experience for our students.

On this special day, Montgomery Lower Middle School will transform into a living “Crossroads Museum,” where students will rotate through a variety of interactive historical and cultural learning centers connected to the nation’s 250th anniversary and Montgomery’s own local history.

Students will explore experiences such as:

• Revolutionary War soldier life and experiences

• The daily life of a soldier during the Revolutionary War

• Churning butter and exploring early American daily life skills

• Gardening and learning how people here in Montgomery Township grew food and sustained their families in the 1770s

• Meeting General George Washington

• Meeting Molly Pitcher and Ned Hector

• Exploring civic ideals such as freedom, courage, service, and community

• Discovering how ordinary people shape history through their actions and choices

A major part of this initiative is our exciting partnership with the local Stoutsburg Sourland African American Museum (SSAAM). Through exhibits, educational experiences, and collaborative programming, SSAAM will help students understand the stories of the diverse people who helped shape both our local community and our nation.

Students will also participate in a collaborative mosaic project that celebrates the idea that history is built through actions, kindness, and contributions of everyday people, including our students themselves.

We again invite all students to wear red, white, and blue on June 12th as we come together as one community for this meaningful celebration.

This extraordinary experience would not be possible without the incredible generosity and partnership of our Middle School PTO and the support of Montgomery Township Municipality. We are deeply grateful for their commitment to helping bring this memorable opportunity to life for our students.

We look forward to sharing this special day with our LMS community.

A Message from Principal Romano

We are excited to share that on Friday, June 12th, Montgomery Lower Middle School will transform into a living “Crossroads Museum” as we celebrate our nation’s 250th anniversary through a very special schoolwide experience: Crossroads: Journeying Through Montgomery’s History.

Throughout the day, students will engage in interactive historical experiences, exhibits, performances, and a collaborative community mosaic project that will help bring history to life while celebrating the idea that each of us has the power to shape our community and our future.

We also ask that all students wear red, white, and blue on June 12th to help us celebrate this memorable day together in a patriotic spirit.

This exciting experience would not be possible without the incredible generosity and partnership of our Middle School PTO and the support of our Montgomery Township Municipality.  We are truly grateful for their shared commitment to bringing this meaningful and memorable celebration to our LMS students. 

We look forward to sharing more details as the day approaches. It promises to be a joyful and memorable celebration for our entire LMS community.

8th Grade End of Year Events

The time has come to recognize our wonderful 8th graders as they prepare to finish middle school and enter high school.    We are proud of their accomplishments and look forward to celebrating with them. Please note the events dedicated to them and the relevant information below to ensure everyone joins in the celebration. Students must demonstrate that they can follow school rules, and they must also attend school on the days of the events to participate.

Grade 8 Semi-Formal “Under the Stars”: Friday, June 12th @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Let’s shine under the stars! All 8th-grade students are invited to dance and socialize at our annual 8th-grade Semi-formal. We ask that students “dress to impress” while being mindful of our school dress code. Jeans or shorts are not permitted. The cost for the semi-formal is $10, and food will be available for purchase. Full-day school attendance on 6/12/26 is required for this event. 

Grade 8 Trip to Frogbridge: Tuesday, June 16th @ 8:30 am – 2:30 pm

We are very excited to see a HUGE turnout of 8th graders joining us for this tradition! Frogbridge offers many activities for the students, including tennis, beach volleyball, basketball, driving range,  kayaking, bumper boats,  fishing (must bring their own fishing equipment), and four heated pools. Students should pack a bathing suit (appropriate and securely fastened), a towel, sunscreen, and sneakers. All students will have access to a lunch and a snack bar - all included in the cost of the trip. Thank you to the PTO for their generous donation of $2,000 to offset the trip's cost. For students who are not attending the trip, we will have school-based activities running, as this is a day that counts for attendance. 

Grade 8 Chromebook Collection: Science classes on June 17th and June 18th 

Students will be turning in their MTSD devices during their Science classes on June 17th and June 18th. More information about this process will be shared by our Technology department. 

Grade 8 Promotion Ceremony: Monday, June 22nd @ 6:00 pm @ MHS

Students are to report to the Montgomery High School Auxiliary gym at 5:15 p.m. on June 22nd for staging and pre-ceremony announcements. The promotion ceremony will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m. in the main gymnasium and is expected to end at 7:30 p.m.  Again, students are asked to “dress to impress” while being mindful of our school dress code. Jeans or shorts are not permitted.            

Each student is allotted four (4) guest/family seats. Guests will be checked in at the door. There are no paper tickets for this event, but monitored through my office.  Please contact Ms. Holly Kotler at hkotler@mtsd.us if you need extra and/or handicapped seating.  Thank you to PTO for helping us to host such a special night for our 8th graders!

We want to remind families that students will be rehearsing for promotion on the morning of June 22nd. Therefore, attendance is mandatory on this day. If your child is absent, we will conclude that they will not participate in the evening’s celebration. If there are extenuating circumstances, please let us know so we can do our best to accommodate.  

We are happy to help any student who needs attire for the celebrations or assistance in covering the cost of these events. Please contact Ms. Amanda Huelbig or Mr. Mark Accardi if you need help.

8th Grade Chromebook Returns

As we prepare for the end of the school year, 8th graders will be returning their district-issued Chromebook and charger. A reminder that Montgomery High School is a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) environment. Students are expected to bring their own laptop/tablet to school every day. Families exhibiting financial need should reach out to their high school counselor during the beginning of the 26-27 school year. 

8th Graders will be handing their Chromebooks and chargers in on Wednesday, June 17th, and Thursday, June 18th, during Science classes. The district Technology Department will be spot assessing for damages and billing for needed repairs.  Students will be sent home with documentation of the damages and fees will be assessed via Genesis. Payment can be made through PaySchools, check, or cash sent to the school. Checks should be made out to the Montgomery Township Board of Education.  Please submit online payment or send a check for the assessed damages to the main office by the last week of school. We recommend examining your student’s device to determine whether or not to expect repair damage billing.  

Typical damage charges are as follows:

Heavily scratched or damaged screen - $40

Cracked or gouged top or bottom cover - $30 each

Keyboard or trackpad - $75

Bezel/Screen trim - $20

Missing or broken hinge/trim cover - $10

Missing or lost charger - $25

Missing, lost, or total loss device  - $250

A previously purchased 2025-2026 insurance plan with an available claim will cover end-of-year damages. 

Any student who does not return their Chromebook or pay for damages will be prohibited from participating in end-of-the-year activities.

2026 Camp Mason Preview

Rising 8th Grade Families -- It is time for us to begin to talk about the long-standing tradition of Camp Mason! For over 30 years, UMS students have been attending Camp Mason for an overnight camping experience to kick off their 8th grade year with some amazing memories. 

We will have a parent informational night on our Back-to-School Night in September 2026, but we wanted to share some important information now so families can begin to prepare for the trip. Below are some important links to key information. We will be sending more information throughout the summer and in the fall.

Graduation Cap Decoration Guidelines

Two years ago, we kicked off a new tradition, and we’re excited to see the Class of 2026 carry it forward!

Decorating your graduation cap (mortarboard) is a meaningful way to celebrate your accomplishments, identity, and future plans. Your cap can reflect your journey, your pride, or your personality, whether through a quote, symbol, image, flag, or message that matters to you.

Please follow the guidelines below to ensure our graduation ceremony remains a respectful and celebratory event for all. All decorated caps must be approved in advance. Caps that do not meet expectations will be held until after the ceremony, and an undecorated replacement will be provided.

Decoration Guidelines

All decorations must:

• Lie completely flat on the cap
• Not interfere with attaching the tassel
• Stay within the edges of the cap (no overhangs)
• Be silent—no noise-making elements
• Avoid any 3D items, such as signs, stuffed animals, bells, or flowers
• Remain below eye level—nothing should stand upright or stick out

Need Inspiration? Here Are Some Ideas:

• Thank a parent, grandparent, teacher, friend… or your principal
• Show off your post-high school plans (college, career, military, trade school, gap year)
• Highlight your MHS experience (sports, clubs, or other activities)
• Display your graduation year or an inspirational message
• Or… leave it blank! Decorating is optional.

Please Avoid:

• Decorations that violate the Montgomery High School Code of Conduct
• Obscene, vulgar, or profane language
• References to drugs, alcohol, tobacco, weapons, or sexual content
• Hurtful or slanderous messages about any person or group
• Political statements or affiliations
• Hate speech or threatening language
• Names of others or nicknames (unless approved)

Pro Tip:

Trace your cap onto cardboard and decorate the cardboard first. If you make a mistake, you won’t risk damaging your actual cap. Once you’re happy with your design, attach it to your real cap using double-sided tape or Velcro.

Important Details:

• You’ll receive your cap and gown on June 22nd, the day before graduation.
• Start your design in advance—don’t wait until the last minute.
• Cap dimensions: 9.5” x 9.5” with a small center hole (½” diameter) for the tassel.
• YOU MUST bring your decorated cap to graduation practice for review and approval.

Competing in Los Angeles against the very best teams in the country, the MHS Science Olympiad team earned an extraordinary 7th place NATIONAL finish.

What an incredible representation of Montgomery High School on the national stage. This achievement is a reflection not only of our students’ talent and commitment but also of the countless hours of support, guidance, and encouragement from our coaches, staff, and families.

Congratulations to our students and coaches, Jason Sullivan, Dave English, and Rama Bulusu, on an unforgettable performance. We are so proud of all of you.

Course Requests and Waiver Decisions

Students who submitted waivers to enroll in an advanced-level course can now view their finalized course requests for the next school year in Genesis.  Please note that changes continued to be made throughout this week, even students who have recently checked their requests need to do so again before June 3rd.  

Important: What is in Genesis is not a schedule; these are your course requests.  As always, core classes are prioritized, and elective requests are not guaranteed.  Next year’s schedules will be viewable at the end of August.

Senior Sunset and Luncheon Information

For our seniors, the end of the year and graduation are rapidly approaching. As the senior class advisors, we wanted to reach out regarding the end-of-the-year celebrations that we have planned for the Class of 2026:

• Senior Sunset will be held on Monday, June 8th, from 7-9 pm at Milich Field. Seniors can bring food, games, and blankets to gather with their classmates for one final lap around the track and celebrate their high school careers!
• Senior Luncheon will be held on Friday, June 12th, during unit lunch under the science eave.  We are looking for donations as well as parent volunteers to help with set-up and serving food on the day of the event.
  • Donations of water, soda, individual chips/snacks, and paper goods can be dropped off at the main office from June 1st to 5th. Please label items for the Class of 2026. 
  • If you are interested in volunteering for the event, you may sign up using this link.

Tuesday, June 23 – Half-day M-day schedule (dismissal at 11:49) for students in grades 9-11; graduation practice for all seniors.

All students are expected to return all textbooks and school-issued materials by the last day of school, June 23rd, 2026. 

If you miss an exam for an unavoidable reason, make-ups must be arranged (by the student) via one of the following methods:

• Individual appointments with teachers during exam periods.
• Afterschool and summer make-ups must be arranged through the teacher (or supervisor, if the teacher is unavailable) by Thursday, June 18th.

Parking On Campus Reminder

As a reminder, on-campus parking is strictly reserved for seniors who have completed parking applications and select juniors who won the junior parking lottery and completed parking applications.

Please be aware of the following regulations:

• Parking Tags: Students are not permitted to park on campus without a valid parking tag. Your tag must be clearly displayed on your rearview mirror at all times while parked on campus.

• Vehicle Identification: We are actively recording license plate numbers, as well as vehicle makes, models, and colors. This information is being cross-referenced and will be taken into consideration for students applying for senior parking next year.

Failure to follow these rules may result in the loss of future parking privileges. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our campus safe and organized.

Class of 2026 High School Graduation Information

On Tuesday, June 23rd, the Commencement Ceremony for the Class of 2026 will begin promptly at 6:00 P.M. The ceremony will take place indoors in the Main Gymnasium. Graduates will assemble in the Auxiliary Gymnasium at 5:15 P.M.

This year, we have made a single, consistent decision to hold graduation indoors in order to provide the safest and most comfortable experience for our graduates, families, and staff. Our students deserve to fully enjoy this milestone without the challenges that can come with late June weather. High temperatures and humidity are common, and on the turf and metal bleachers, these conditions are significantly intensified, particularly for graduates seated in gowns for extended periods. In addition, changing weather patterns can make outdoor planning unpredictable and often lead to last-minute adjustments.

By planning ahead and committing to an indoor ceremony, we are prioritizing the well-being of our community while also enabling families to plan with clarity and confidence. Our focus remains on creating a meaningful, joyful, and memorable celebration for the Class of 2026.

Participation in the graduation ceremony is optional. As such, any student may choose not to participate in the commencement exercise. If you decide not to participate, please contact Mrs. Matthews in the main office as soon as possible at lmatthews@mtsd.us 

Schedule of Events Tuesday, June 23rd, 2026

7:30 A.M. – Senior Breakfast will occur outside, under the Science Eave, before graduation practice. Parents of seniors conduct this activity, which is funded by the senior class. 

8:00 A.M. – The Class of 2026 will check in under the Science Eave and be directed to the Main Gymnasium for graduation rehearsal.

8:25 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. –  Graduation Rehearsal.

• Dismissal depends on the class's cooperation and the successful completion of rehearsals for the Commencement Ceremony.
• Students must attend the entire rehearsal session to participate in the Commencement Ceremony. Students who miss rehearsal or leave prior to the conclusion of rehearsal will not be eligible to participate. Please do not schedule appointments before 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 23rd.

5:15 P.M. – Members of the Class of 2026 participating in the Commencement Ceremony report to the Auxiliary Gymnasium. Students should be in the gymnasium no later than 5:15 P.M.

6:00 P.M. – Commencement Ceremony

Dress Code

All students must be dressed in appropriate attire for graduation. Appropriate attire includes:

• Dresses, skirts, or dress pants with a blouse under the gown.
• Dress pants, dress shoes, and a dress shirt with a tie.
• Jeans and shorts are NOT permitted.
• Flip-flops are NOT permitted.
• Please be mindful of your footwear. Walking in heels on a polished floor may be difficult and uncomfortable. 
• Footwear should be more formal than on a typical school day.

If you have a question about your graduation attire, please speak with Mrs. Pino-Beattie in advance of the graduation ceremony.

Code of Conduct

• Members of the Class of 2026 must be in their assigned seats on time for all graduation rehearsals.  Failure to attend or unexcused lateness to the rehearsal sessions may jeopardize a student’s privilege to participate in the Commencement Ceremony.
• All members of the Class of 2026 are asked to cooperate fully during rehearsals. The sooner you get it correct, the sooner you will be dismissed.
• Please do not bring beach balls, silly string, air horns, water guns, or any other “items of distraction” to rehearsal or the Commencement Ceremony. The Marshals will check students prior to the ceremony to ensure that these items are not present.
• Cell phones must remain in the “OFF” position during graduation rehearsal and the Commencement Ceremony.
• Cameras and yearbooks are prohibited during the graduation rehearsal or the Commencement Ceremony.

Note: Students in violation of the Code of Conduct or who do not comply with the Dress Code as stated above may jeopardize their privilege to participate in the Commencement Ceremony and may be removed from the ceremony.  Remember, participating in graduation is a privilege, not a right.

Diplomas

• Please ensure all fines and obligations are paid by Thursday, June 11, at 10:00 a.m. so students can receive their diplomas. Unpaid fines and obligations will delay the receipt of your diploma.
• You must complete the Naviance Graduation Survey. You can access this by logging into your Naviance account, clicking on “about me,” and then selecting the “graduation survey.”
• Diplomas will be distributed in the media center immediately following the commencement ceremony. Graduates must report for diploma pick-up immediately following the ceremony.

Distribution of Caps and Gowns

Caps and gowns will be distributed on Monday, June 22nd. Graduates can pick up their caps and gowns from 10:40 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at the reception desk in the foyer (outside the main office).

Distribution of Graduation Tickets

Tickets will be distributed on Tuesday, June 23rd, at the end of graduation rehearsal. Each graduate will receive four tickets for our commencement ceremony. We will have overflow seating in the Montgomery Performing Arts Center (MPAC) available on a first-come, first-served basis; we will live-stream the Ceremony for free on YouTube for those unable to attend in person. We will provide a link to the live stream in the days leading up to graduation.

Graduation Announcements in the July Issue of The Montgomery News

The Montgomery News is continuing the tradition and helping the community celebrate our 2026 graduates!  In their July issue, a special graduation section will highlight the accomplishments of local students from preschool to graduate school.  The Montgomery News will also donate 10% of the proceeds from the graduation announcements to the Montgomery Township Education Foundation (MTEF). The deadline to purchase graduation announcements is Monday, June 15, 2026. More information can be found on the linked Montgomery News Graduation Announcement site.

Pictures

• Montgomery graduates and parents will be able to purchase professional graduation pictures through Milan Rose.  Graduation pictures will feature each student receiving their diploma and will be available for purchase.     
• Order envelopes will be sent electronically, a hard copy will be available in the main office, and a downloadable form will be available on the MHS website. Payment must be received prior to the Commencement Ceremony.
• Completed order forms with payment should be submitted to the main office prior to the Commencement Ceremony.

Commencement Ceremony Estimated Run-Time

The graduation ceremony normally runs approximately 2 hours.

Somerset County Park Commission: Camp Curiosity - Monday, June 22 - Friday, June 26, 2026

SPACE IS THE PLACE!
At Camp Curiosity, participants will explore the wonders of science and outer space. Have you ever wondered what it’s like in outer space? Are there aliens out there? At “mission control,” campers will learn what it takes to be an astronaut while engaging in fun and interactive activities.

Camp Curiosity is a weeklong program for individuals ages 10–16 with developmental disabilities, learning disabilities, high-functioning autism, or mild intellectual disabilities. The program includes arts and crafts, individual and group games, nature activities, creative arts, and more.

Our goal is to provide participants with opportunities to develop recreation and leisure skills, build positive peer relationships, strengthen social skills, enhance confidence and self-image, and most importantly—have fun!

Camp Dates: Monday – Friday, June 22–26, 2026

Artwork from staff members will also be displayed!

The visual arts give our students an opportunity to creatively communicate their passions and expressively share how they see the world and themselves in it. The beauty and talent displayed rivals what you would find in any art museum.

The art gallery is located at Montgomery High School, 1016 Route 601, Skillman NJ 08558.  We will have the gallery open to the public on 2 different days as follows:

Medication Pick-up Notice

If your child has medication in the school health office, they must be picked up prior to the school year ending on Tuesday, June 23, 2026. Please be aware that it can only be given to you by the school nurse. Medication that is not picked up will be discarded at the end of the day on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.

For the coming 2026-2027 school year, information pertaining to medication forms and care plans for students with a life-threatening allergy, asthma, diabetes, or a seizure disorder will be sent out over the summer. Links will be provided to the forms needing completion and they can also be found on the district website under the “Health Offices” tab.

It is recommended that your child self-carry district-approved medications such as inhalers, Epinephrine, diabetic supplies/medication, and Hydrocortisone Succinate. Care plans and medication forms are still required in these instances and must state that the child is capable of self-carrying.

All medication forms and care plans must be updated annually. It is imperative that you have the forms and medications ready for the first day of school, September 3, 2026.

Please visit the health office website for medication drop off dates pertaining to your child's school for the upcoming school year. All medications must be in their original container with your child's name and date of birth. Please contact your child’s Certified School Nurse for the 2026-2027 school year with questions or concerns.

Community Farm Share Program

The Montgomery Township School District has partnered with Fairgrown Farm! Fairgrown Farm will be bringing fresh, local food directly to families and funding meaningful school programs.

You can pick up your farm box every Tuesday from 2 PM - 5 PM at Montgomery High School. Each box includes a rotating selection of seasonal produce from 40+ local farms with the ability to add additional year-round and seasonal items. 10% of every purchase goes right back to our school district to support field trips, in-school farm experiences, tastings, and local food in school lunches.

New Jersey has expanded the income eligibility guidelines for families with children in grades K–12. Please review the updated guidelines to see if your family qualifies for the school meal program:

Free and Reduced-Price Lunch Program

As we continue working to support every student in our school community, we want to be sure all families are aware of the Free and Reduced-Price Lunch Program available to eligible students.

This program helps ensure that every child has access to healthy, nutritious meals during the school day. Many families qualify and don't realize. All applications are kept completely confidential. Submission of this form should be done annually.

A Message From Assistant Principal Caudill

I am writing to share some personal news. Effective July 1, I will be leaving my position as Assistant Principal at Orchard Hill Elementary School as I begin a new chapter serving as Principal of Littlebrook Elementary School in Princeton, New Jersey.

While I am excited about this opportunity for growth, making the decision to leave Orchard Hill has not been easy. Over the years, it has been a privilege to work alongside such an incredible community of students, families, and staff. Orchard Hill has been much more than a workplace; it has been a place filled with meaningful relationships, shared experiences, and countless moments that I will always carry with me.

To our families, thank you for your trust, support, and partnership. The connection between home and school is essential to student success, and I have truly appreciated the opportunity to work together in support of our children. Your collaboration, encouragement, and commitment to our school community have made a lasting impact.

To our Cubs, thank you for making each day meaningful and memorable. Your curiosity, kindness, energy, and joy have made Orchard Hill a special place. Whether sharing a smile in the hallway, celebrating accomplishments, working through challenges together, or watching you grow throughout the years, it has been an honor to be a small part of your journey. I am incredibly proud of each of you and all that you will continue to accomplish.

Although I may be moving into a new role, I will always carry a piece of Orchard Hill with me. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have been part of this remarkable school community.

Thank you again for allowing me to serve and grow alongside you. I look forward to cherishing these final weeks together and celebrating all that makes Orchard Hill such a special place.

VES Instrumental Program and Tryouts

Recently, all 3rd grade students were introduced to the musical instruments that they will have an opportunity to play next school year. Participation in the instrumental music program is voluntary. The instruments available include: baritone horn (euphonium), bass, cello, clarinet, flute, French Horn, oboe, percussion, alto saxophone, trombone, trumpet, viola, and violin.

Additional Details: Crossroads Museum

As we continue to look ahead to our June 12th celebration, Crossroads: Journeying Through Montgomery’s History, we are excited to share more details about this unforgettable learning experience for our students.

On this special day, Montgomery Lower Middle School will transform into a living “Crossroads Museum,” where students will rotate through a variety of interactive historical and cultural learning centers connected to the nation’s 250th anniversary and Montgomery’s own local history.

Students will explore experiences such as:

• Revolutionary War soldier life and experiences

• The daily life of a soldier during the Revolutionary War

• Churning butter and exploring early American daily life skills

• Gardening and learning how people here in Montgomery Township grew food and sustained their families in the 1770s

• Meeting General George Washington

• Meeting Molly Pitcher and Ned Hector

• Exploring civic ideals such as freedom, courage, service, and community

• Discovering how ordinary people shape history through their actions and choices

A major part of this initiative is our exciting partnership with the local Stoutsburg Sourland African American Museum (SSAAM). Through exhibits, educational experiences, and collaborative programming, SSAAM will help students understand the stories of the diverse people who helped shape both our local community and our nation.

Students will also participate in a collaborative mosaic project that celebrates the idea that history is built through actions, kindness, and contributions of everyday people, including our students themselves.

We again invite all students to wear red, white, and blue on June 12th as we come together as one community for this meaningful celebration.

This extraordinary experience would not be possible without the incredible generosity and partnership of our Middle School PTO and the support of Montgomery Township Municipality. We are deeply grateful for their commitment to helping bring this memorable opportunity to life for our students.

We look forward to sharing this special day with our LMS community.

A Message from Principal Romano

We are excited to share that on Friday, June 12th, Montgomery Lower Middle School will transform into a living “Crossroads Museum” as we celebrate our nation’s 250th anniversary through a very special schoolwide experience: Crossroads: Journeying Through Montgomery’s History.

Throughout the day, students will engage in interactive historical experiences, exhibits, performances, and a collaborative community mosaic project that will help bring history to life while celebrating the idea that each of us has the power to shape our community and our future.

We also ask that all students wear red, white, and blue on June 12th to help us celebrate this memorable day together in a patriotic spirit.

This exciting experience would not be possible without the incredible generosity and partnership of our Middle School PTO and the support of our Montgomery Township Municipality.  We are truly grateful for their shared commitment to bringing this meaningful and memorable celebration to our LMS students. 

We look forward to sharing more details as the day approaches. It promises to be a joyful and memorable celebration for our entire LMS community.

2026 Camp Mason Preview

Rising 8th Grade Families -- It is time for us to begin to talk about the long-standing tradition of Camp Mason! For over 30 years, UMS students have been attending Camp Mason for an overnight camping experience to kick off their 8th grade year with some amazing memories. 

We will have a parent informational night on our Back-to-School Night in September 2026, but we wanted to share some important information now so families can begin to prepare for the trip. Below are some important links to key information. We will be sending more information throughout the summer and in the fall.

Course Requests and Waiver Decisions

Students who submitted waivers to enroll in an advanced-level course can now view their finalized course requests for the next school year in Genesis.  Please note that changes continued to be made throughout this week, even students who have recently checked their requests need to do so again before June 3rd.  

Important: What is in Genesis is not a schedule; these are your course requests.  As always, core classes are prioritized, and elective requests are not guaranteed.  Next year’s schedules will be viewable at the end of August.

Senior Sunset and Luncheon Information

For our seniors, the end of the year and graduation are rapidly approaching. As the senior class advisors, we wanted to reach out regarding the end-of-the-year celebrations that we have planned for the Class of 2026:

• Senior Sunset will be held on Monday, June 8th, from 7-9 pm at Milich Field. Seniors can bring food, games, and blankets to gather with their classmates for one final lap around the track and celebrate their high school careers!
• Senior Luncheon will be held on Friday, June 12th, during unit lunch under the science eave.  We are looking for donations as well as parent volunteers to help with set-up and serving food on the day of the event.
  • Donations of water, soda, individual chips/snacks, and paper goods can be dropped off at the main office from June 1st to 5th. Please label items for the Class of 2026. 
  • If you are interested in volunteering for the event, you may sign up using this link.

As June 23 quickly approaches, we wanted to share our final exam schedule and end-of-year schedules to help everyone prepare for the busy weeks ahead. This time of year always seems to move quickly, filled with important milestones, celebrations, and final opportunities for learning and growth.

Parking On Campus Reminder

As a reminder, on-campus parking is strictly reserved for seniors who have completed parking applications and select juniors who won the junior parking lottery and completed parking applications.

Please be aware of the following regulations:

• Parking Tags: Students are not permitted to park on campus without a valid parking tag. Your tag must be clearly displayed on your rearview mirror at all times while parked on campus.

• Vehicle Identification: We are actively recording license plate numbers, as well as vehicle makes, models, and colors. This information is being cross-referenced and will be taken into consideration for students applying for senior parking next year.

Failure to follow these rules may result in the loss of future parking privileges. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our campus safe and organized.

Class of 2026 High School Graduation Information

On Tuesday, June 23rd, the Commencement Ceremony for the Class of 2026 will begin promptly at 6:00 P.M. The ceremony will take place indoors in the Main Gymnasium. Graduates will assemble in the Auxiliary Gymnasium at 5:15 P.M.

This year, we have made a single, consistent decision to hold graduation indoors in order to provide the safest and most comfortable experience for our graduates, families, and staff. Our students deserve to fully enjoy this milestone without the challenges that can come with late June weather. High temperatures and humidity are common, and on the turf and metal bleachers, these conditions are significantly intensified, particularly for graduates seated in gowns for extended periods. In addition, changing weather patterns can make outdoor planning unpredictable and often lead to last-minute adjustments.

By planning ahead and committing to an indoor ceremony, we are prioritizing the well-being of our community while also enabling families to plan with clarity and confidence. Our focus remains on creating a meaningful, joyful, and memorable celebration for the Class of 2026.

Participation in the graduation ceremony is optional. As such, any student may choose not to participate in the commencement exercise. If you decide not to participate, please contact Mrs. Matthews in the main office as soon as possible at lmatthews@mtsd.us 

Schedule of Events Tuesday, June 23rd, 2026

7:30 A.M. – Senior Breakfast will occur outside, under the Science Eave, before graduation practice. Parents of seniors conduct this activity, which is funded by the senior class. 

8:00 A.M. – The Class of 2026 will check in under the Science Eave and be directed to the Main Gymnasium for graduation rehearsal.

8:25 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. –  Graduation Rehearsal.

• Dismissal depends on the class's cooperation and the successful completion of rehearsals for the Commencement Ceremony.
• Students must attend the entire rehearsal session to participate in the Commencement Ceremony. Students who miss rehearsal or leave prior to the conclusion of rehearsal will not be eligible to participate. Please do not schedule appointments before 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 23rd.

5:15 P.M. – Members of the Class of 2026 participating in the Commencement Ceremony report to the Auxiliary Gymnasium. Students should be in the gymnasium no later than 5:15 P.M.

6:00 P.M. – Commencement Ceremony

Dress Code

All students must be dressed in appropriate attire for graduation. Appropriate attire includes:

• Dresses, skirts, or dress pants with a blouse under the gown.
• Dress pants, dress shoes, and a dress shirt with a tie.
• Jeans and shorts are NOT permitted.
• Flip-flops are NOT permitted.
• Please be mindful of your footwear. Walking in heels on a polished floor may be difficult and uncomfortable. 
• Footwear should be more formal than on a typical school day.

If you have a question about your graduation attire, please speak with Mrs. Pino-Beattie in advance of the graduation ceremony.

Code of Conduct

• Members of the Class of 2026 must be in their assigned seats on time for all graduation rehearsals.  Failure to attend or unexcused lateness to the rehearsal sessions may jeopardize a student’s privilege to participate in the Commencement Ceremony.
• All members of the Class of 2026 are asked to cooperate fully during rehearsals. The sooner you get it correct, the sooner you will be dismissed.
• Please do not bring beach balls, silly string, air horns, water guns, or any other “items of distraction” to rehearsal or the Commencement Ceremony. The Marshals will check students prior to the ceremony to ensure that these items are not present.
• Cell phones must remain in the “OFF” position during graduation rehearsal and the Commencement Ceremony.
• Cameras and yearbooks are prohibited during the graduation rehearsal or the Commencement Ceremony.

Note: Students in violation of the Code of Conduct or who do not comply with the Dress Code as stated above may jeopardize their privilege to participate in the Commencement Ceremony and may be removed from the ceremony.  Remember, participating in graduation is a privilege, not a right.

Diplomas

• Please ensure all fines and obligations are paid by Thursday, June 11, at 10:00 a.m. so students can receive their diplomas. Unpaid fines and obligations will delay the receipt of your diploma.
• You must complete the Naviance Graduation Survey. You can access this by logging into your Naviance account, clicking on “about me,” and then selecting the “graduation survey.”
• Diplomas will be distributed in the media center immediately following the commencement ceremony. Graduates must report for diploma pick-up immediately following the ceremony.

Distribution of Caps and Gowns

Caps and gowns will be distributed on Monday, June 22nd. Graduates can pick up their caps and gowns from 10:40 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at the reception desk in the foyer (outside the main office).

Distribution of Graduation Tickets

Tickets will be distributed on Tuesday, June 23rd, at the end of graduation rehearsal. Each graduate will receive four tickets for our commencement ceremony. We will have overflow seating in the Montgomery Performing Arts Center (MPAC) available on a first-come, first-served basis; we will live-stream the Ceremony for free on YouTube for those unable to attend in person. We will provide a link to the live stream in the days leading up to graduation.

Graduation Announcements in the July Issue of The Montgomery News

The Montgomery News is continuing the tradition and helping the community celebrate our 2026 graduates!  In their July issue, a special graduation section will highlight the accomplishments of local students from preschool to graduate school.  The Montgomery News will also donate 10% of the proceeds from the graduation announcements to the Montgomery Township Education Foundation (MTEF). The deadline to purchase graduation announcements is Monday, June 15, 2026. More information can be found on the linked Montgomery News Graduation Announcement site.

Pictures

• Montgomery graduates and parents will be able to purchase professional graduation pictures through Milan Rose.  Graduation pictures will feature each student receiving their diploma and will be available for purchase.     
• Order envelopes will be sent electronically, a hard copy will be available in the main office, and a downloadable form will be available on the MHS website. Payment must be received prior to the Commencement Ceremony.
• Completed order forms with payment should be submitted to the main office prior to the Commencement Ceremony.

Commencement Ceremony Estimated Run-Time

The graduation ceremony normally runs approximately 2 hours.

Food Pantry

The Food Pantry is located at Otto Kaufman Community Center. It is located on the Senior Center side of the Otto Kaufman Center. Food Pantry visits, volunteers, and donations are by appointment only to protect the privacy of Pantry clients. Somerset County Stigma-Free Summit - Thursday, June 4, 2026

Somerset County's Stigma-Free Summit will be held on Thursday, June 4th, 2026 from 5 PM - 9 PM at Raritan Valley Community College in Branchburg.

The theme, “Nourishment: Mind, Body, and Soul,” emphasizes a comprehensive view of well-being that recognizes mental health and substance use as part of the human experience, not something to be judged or stigmatized. It highlights the importance of care, compassion, and connection in supporting individuals and communities. This approach aligns with our county’s stigma-free initiative, which seeks to foster understanding, reduce discrimination, and promote a culture where everyone feels valued, supported, and empowered to seek help and thrive.

Somerset County Park Commission: Camp Curiosity - Monday, June 22 - Friday, June 26, 2026

SPACE IS THE PLACE!
At Camp Curiosity, participants will explore the wonders of science and outer space. Have you ever wondered what it’s like in outer space? Are there aliens out there? At “mission control,” campers will learn what it takes to be an astronaut while engaging in fun and interactive activities.

Camp Curiosity is a weeklong program for individuals ages 10–16 with developmental disabilities, learning disabilities, high-functioning autism, or mild intellectual disabilities. The program includes arts and crafts, individual and group games, nature activities, creative arts, and more.

Our goal is to provide participants with opportunities to develop recreation and leisure skills, build positive peer relationships, strengthen social skills, enhance confidence and self-image, and most importantly—have fun!

Camp Dates: Monday – Friday, June 22–26, 2026

4-H Prep/Cloverbud Clubs Brochure

Attention children in grades K - 3, you can join 4-H! The Somerset County 4-H Prep/Cloverbud Program includes FREE, non-competitive, exploratory clubs led by volunteers.

Clubs typically meet 1-2x/month beginning in September through our 4-H Fair in August.
