On January 7, 2020, a vacancy on the Montgomery Township Board of Education has been created due to the resignation of a board member.  It is the intent of the Board of Education to fill this vacancy as soon as possible. The individual appointed to the vacant position will serve on the Board through the Organization Meeting which will be held January 5, 2021.


A candidate must meet the legal qualifications to serve on a Board of Education. Those qualifications are:


A Board member must be able to read and write.


A Board member must hold U.S. citizenship and one year’s residency in the school district.


A Board member must be registered to vote in the district.


A Board member must not have any interest in any contract with, or claim against, the board.


A Board member must not hold office as mayor or member of the municipal governing body.


A Board member must not simultaneously hold two elective offices.


A Board member must not be disqualified from membership for the conviction of certain crimes.  (Within 30 days of appointment to the board, a member must undergo a criminal history background investigation through the State Department of Education.)


Interested candidates should submit a letter of interest stating that they are qualified to serve on the Board of Education.  The letter of interest is due no later than noon on Monday, January 27, 2020.  Selected candidates for consideration will be interviewed by the Board of Education on Tuesday, February 4, 2020.  All submittals are to be sent or delivered to:
