Welcome Back to School Letter - 9/3/20

September 3, 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I hope this letter finds you and your family well.  The district has been busy preparing for the start of school for students next Tuesday, September 8, 2020.  Our teachers have been engaged in professional development activities throughout the summer and are excited to see their students virtually on Tuesday.  In addition to technology, instructional, and curriculum training, our staff has participated in anti-bias training aligned with the district’s commitment to facilitating, promoting, and sustaining ongoing equity, diversity, and inclusive practices.

I hope you had the opportunity to attend your child(ren)’s school family orientation sessions held this past week.  Many building-specific details were shared by the educators, and there was an interactive question/answer session for attendees.  Please visit the school’s websites for access to all resources and information pertaining to your child(ren)’s programs.

Please be mindful that November 2, 3, & 4, 2020, Monday through Wednesday, will be all-virtual days.  There will be no in-person instruction on these three days due to the requirement to have schools closed for in-person instruction for voter accessibility in compliance with the Governor's Executive Order 177.  This will allow all students to receive three full days of instruction prior to the schools’ closing on Thursday and Friday, November 5 and 6, 2020 for the NJ Teachers’ Convention.

As we reassess our safety and staffing needs later this month, we will communicate our plan with you.  As of now, we plan to begin our hybrid, in-person instruction schedule on Monday, October 12, 2020.

Enjoy your weekend.  We look forward to the start of school.
