Community Letter October 16, 2020

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I’m pleased to share with you that our first week of hybrid instruction went exceedingly well. Our staff extensively prepared themselves for our hybrid schedule and instruction. Both the students and staff had a successful week. Those who attended classes in person appeared to adjust to their classrooms and enjoyed seeing friends and teachers. The socialization was a rich and rewarding experience, while everyone adhered to the social distancing guidelines and the wearing of face coverings. Our entire staff worked diligently preparing for the safe return of students this week.

Thank you for your support in making this a successful transition. Our staff was happy to see and work with their students in both the in-person and virtual settings. We as a community have had to exercise tremendous flexibility in our traditional roles as teachers and students. The resilience of our school community was nothing short of unprecedented. Proper and safe behaviors were exhibited, while at the same time special accommodations were put in place to meet the needs of our learners when necessary.

At the administrative level, we have monitored the health of our staff and students. Again, I thank and compliment all of our school community for their attention to the daily health screenings, asking pertinent health related questions, and mostly for being conservative in their own self health screenings that serve to keep everyone safe and healthy.

I will continue to inform you of any and all changes to our current phase of reopening.

Sincerely,

Mary E. McLoughlin

Superintendent
