  • Mrs. Raquel Estremera-Rivera, Principal

    Mrs. Raquel Estremera-Rivera received her Master's Degree in Educational Leadership and Supervision from The College of New Jersey and her B.A. in Spanish and Latino Caribbean Studies from Rutgers University. Prior to joining the staff at Montgomery Upper Middle School, Mrs. Estremera-Rivera served as Vice principal of Montgomery Township High School, was a K-12 Spanish teacher in the Hopewell Valley Regional School District where she earned the Governor's Teacher of the Year award, founded the Spanish Exchange Program with FloridaBlanca in Murcia, Spain, and served as Vice Principal in the Hopewell Valley Regional School District for 25 years. Mrs. Estremera-Rivera has been a student/teacher mentor, advisor, and leader of various district-wide and school-based committees, all with a focus on Social, Emotional, Learning, Blended and Personalized Learning, Restorative Practices, and Capacity Building. She has hosted student teachers from The College of N.J., Rider University, and the N.J. Educational Opportunity Fund Program at Rutgers University. She is currently a Doctoral Candidate at Rider University with a dissertation focus on Restorative Justice Practices in Education. Outside of UMS, Mrs. Estremera-Rivera loves spending time with her husband, José, her son, Alejandro, her daughter, Victoria, and their two dogs Reeses and Coco.


     

    Mr. Mark Accardi, Vice Principal

    Mark Accardi is ecstatic to be the Vice Principal of Montgomery Upper Middle School. Mr. Accardi began his education career as a Special Education Teacher. He holds degrees from The College of New Jersey, all centered around education. As Vice Principal, Mr. Accardi believes that individuality and empathy are key to assisting every student in accessing the education they deserve. Mr. Accardi works passionately with the staff to make sure all students know that they belong at UMS. While not at school, Mr. Accardi can be found answering Musical Theatre Trivia, hiking with his dog Roscoe, or baking for his wife Chrissy and daughter Veronica.
