The UMS theatre arts program consists of both curricular and co-curricular opportunities. Through involvement in the theatrical arts, students explore creative ways to express their ideas and thoughts through multiple forms of media. The discovery students experience in the realms of creativity, modes of communication, listening skills, artistic interpretation of social situations, and self realization is impressive!
In the 8th grade, students may elect to take theatre arts as a semester long elective. This class is excellent preparation for the high school theatre arts curriculum as well as participation in our theatrical productions. For more information on this course, please see the
UMS Program of Studies.
The Upper Middle School produces a full musical production in the spring as part of the co-curricular program. All students in UMS are encouraged to participate either through auditioning for the cast, being a part of the chorus, joining the student pit orchestra, being a part of the stage crew, designing and buildings the sets, or operating the audio/visual components of the show.
