This full-year course addresses all of the Math 8 content and instruction of the NJ State Learning Standards. The focus of this course is on the prerequisite skills of algebra: expanding the knowledge of the number system, working with irrational and rational numbers. Exploring the connection between proportional relationships, lines, and linear equations. Introducing students to functional notation. Solving real-world problems requiring the understanding and application of the Pythagorean Theorem and volume formulas. Students will investigate patterns within sets of data. In the Spring students take the Math 8 test administered by New Jersey.
