A newsletter for families of Village Education School

WOW! The summer went by very fast and we hope it was a happy one for all.  We are excited to be back and to begin an action packed year!

It is important to us that Physical Education is a fun and positive experience for all students.  Our activities guide and encourage physical fitness, promote development of motor skills, increase knowledge and skills in sport activities, encourage social interaction and sportsmanship and boost self-esteem.

We would appreciate your cooperation in helping us provide a healthy and safe environment for your children.

     Here is what you need:

    *Clothing – comfortable and fitting.

*Sneakers – with rubber soles, arch support, shoelaces or Velcro to be secured properly (no slip-ons, rubber sole shoes or sneakers with high heels).  *if your child wears special shoes to school, such as boots for inclement weather or dress shoes for a pictures or special activities, have them bring their sneakers to school.

*Students who do not wear sneakers may have to sit out of class, depending on the activity we’re doing

    **Other factors to ensure safety

*No gum or candy in gym

*No jewelry (watches, rings, bracelets, handing earrings, or necklace). This is to prevent loss or injury to others.  Please leave all jewelry at home on these days.

*Eyeglass guards can be worn to prevent breakage or loss.

Medical Excuses – If a child is unable to participate in Physical Education class, they must present the teacher with a letter.  A parent’s letter may excuse them for one class.  For an excuse for more than one class, a note from a doctor is required.

*The note must be presented to the nurse first thing in the morning to obtain an excuse.

*If injured during class, student must report incident to the teacher

*If a student develops a pattern of absenteeism, excuses, and/or is frequently unprepared, the parent will be notified.

    Grades will be based on:

    -Being Prepared for class             -Participation/Effort

    -Behavior/Conduct                                    -Attitude/Sportsmanship

**Please stop by to say “HELLO” on Back to School Night. We will be located by the nurses office in the front foyer.  If you have any questions or concerns, you can always reach us by email or telephone 973-466-7606 (ext. 2245).  With everyone’s cooperation, the experience of Physical Education will be rewarding, safe and lots of fun!  We look forward to another wonderful school year at VES!!
