    Dear New 3rd Grader,

Hello and welcome to third grade!  I hope that you have been having a great summer so far.  We have been busy getting our classroom ready and we hope you are as excited about the new school year as we are!

Third grade is a really big year!  We will read many great books, write lots, and learn cursive handwriting.  We will also create electrical currents, grow plants, learn about the history of Montgomery, explore Native Americans, and play many fun math games.  We also hope that you’ll make a lot of new friends and learn about working with others.

You may have already bought some of your school supplies for this year, but there are certain supplies that we would like everyone to have on the first day of school so we can start right away.  They will help our daily activities run more smoothly.  Here are the supplies you will need:

    • Book bag (without wheels)
    • 24 sharpened pencils with erasers
    • 1 large eraser with your name on it
    • crayons or sharpened colored pencils with your name on the box
    • 4 rolls of scotch tape with your name
    • 4 glue sticks with your name on them
    • a clean sock (to be used as a dry erase board eraser)
    • 5 dry erase markers with your name on them
    • a soft pencil case for supplies (boxes do not fit well in or on the desks)
    • 2 marble composition notebooks
    • 1 spiral notebook
    • 1 large Ziplock storage bag with your name on it (This will be used for storing your extra supplies in your cubby so you won’t run out of things during the school year.)

Please make sure you bring in ALL supplies by Friday, September 9th. We look forward to meeting you and learning more about you!  We hope you are looking forward to a fantastic year of fun and learning!  Enjoy the rest of your summer!

                                                                                                    Sincerely,

                                                                                                    Mrs. Cramer & Ms. Gill
