• Identification Process:

    Research on students identified as “gifted” reports that often gifted children present in non-traditional ways.  Academic success should not be overlooked as an identifiable trait, but it should not be the only trait.  Towards that end, multiple data points have been used to identify students’ eligibility for the Voyagers/Expeditions program.  The below data points were used in the identification for students in the 2021-22 school year.

    Kindergarten

    Grades 1-4

    • CogAT Full Battery
    • Fountas & Pinnell Reading Benchmark Assessment (grade 1) 
    • Unit 1 Math Assessment (grades 1)
    • Renaissance Star360 Reading & Math Assessment (grades 2-4)

    Grades 5-8

    • CogAT Full Battery
    • Renaissance Star360 Reading & Math Assessment  (grades 5-8)

    Grades 9-12

    • Prerequisite scores necessary to participate in Honors and AP courses.
    • Previously identified K-8 student

    ***The assessment sources utilized for the 2021-22 school year may not be the permanent tools used to determine placement for future school years.  Aligned with best practices and the law, multiple data points will be used to create a full student profile each year.  However, data points may change as determined by the district.
