Montgomery Lower Middle School Counseling Mission Statement

The mission of our school counseling program is to provide a comprehensive, data-driven support system that empowers all students to achieve academic success, develop essential social-emotional skills, and explore college and career pathways. We are committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment where every student feels valued, supported, and capable of reaching their full potential.

Recognizing the richness and complexity of our increasingly diverse student population, our counseling program is designed to be culturally responsive and student-centered. We actively seek to understand and celebrate each student’s unique background, identity, and experience. Through intentional collaboration with families, educators, and community partners, we aim to create a safe and affirming space where all students can thrive socially, emotionally, and academically.

Guided by the ASCA National Model and rooted in continuous improvement, we use relevant and meaningful data to assess student needs, identify achievement gaps, and guide the delivery of targeted interventions. Our proactive approach focuses on prevention and early identification of social and emotional challenges, ensuring that all students—regardless of background—have equitable access to the resources and support they need to succeed in middle school and beyond.

The L.M.S. counseling program is designed to ensure that every student has the resources and guidance needed to graduate high school prepared for postsecondary opportunities, whether that includes further education, career readiness, or personal growth. We strive to create a space where every student has access to a school counseling program that supports their academic, career, and social/emotional development.

At L.M.S., we understand that effective school counseling is a collaborative process, and we actively work alongside students, families, teachers, administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure that every student's needs are met. As leaders within our school, district, state, and nation, our school counselors are dedicated to promoting programs that enhance student outcomes and help them thrive both in school and beyond.
