The MHS Music Program consists of a comprehensive performance program as well as classroom music opportunities.  Over 500 students are enrolled in the program with 5 faculty members working with them.  The music program receives consistent recognition from local colleges and universities as a state model and prides itself in national and international exposure.  The MHS music program has a philosophy of non-competitive performance.  The faculty believe that providing students the opportunity to be artistic and expressive at a very high level in authentic performance environments is of paramount importance.  Our ensembles frequently seek the feedback of nationally acclaimed clinicians and conductors but not in competitive events.

The MHS Band Program consists of 8 different ensembles, the core of which are our three curricular concert bands:  symphonic band, symphonic winds, and wind ensemble.  There are 240 students enrolled in these three ensembles.  Co-curricular opportunities include the marching band, jazz band, stage band, basketball band, and pit orchestra as well as a multitude of chamber ensembles.
