• Playing Sports in College – Your Guide to Becoming an NCAA Athlete
     
     
     
     
     
     
     
    In order to be eligible to play collegiate athletics, you must fill out the registration form for the NCAA Eligibility Center Click here to complete the registration form.

     
    To be eligible to compete in Division I Athletics, students must complete 16 core courses as stipulated by the NCAA.  They are as follows:

     

    > 4 Years of English

    > 3 Years of Math (Algebra 1 or higher)

    > 2 Years of Natural/Physical Science (1 year of lab)

    > 1 Year of additional English/Math/Natural/Physical Science

    > 2 Years of Social Science (Social Studies)

    > 4 Years of Additional Courses From Any of the Above (also includes language)

     

    In Division I Athletics, there is a sliding scale for test scores and Grade Point Average. Please click here and scroll to page 2 of this document to view the sliding scale.

     

    To be eligible to compete in Division II Athletics, students must complete 14 core courses (this will be 16 core courses as of 2013) as stipulated by the NCAA. They are as follows:

     

    > 3 Years of English

    > 2 Years of Math (Algebra 1 or higher)

    > 2 Years of Natural/Physical Science (1 year of lab)

    > 2 Year of additional English/Math/Natural/Physical Science

    > 2 Years of Social Science (Social Studies)

    > 3 Years of Additional Courses From Any of the Above (also includes language)

     

    Division II Athletics has no sliding scale. The minimum GPA  is 2.0 (75) and the minimum SAT score is 820 (critical reading and math only!)

     

    THERE IS NO NCAA ELIGIBILITY CENTER THAT NEEDS TO BE COMPLETED TO PARTICIPATE IN DIVISION III ATHLETICS!!!
